Facade restoration
PROBLEM
Water infiltration lead to distress at three of the four building corners including:
- Shifting and cracking of lannon stone at the buttress locations
- Open and cracking lannon and limestone mortar joints
- Sealant failure at skyward joints and window perimeters
- Corrosion and expansion of steel support elements
SOLUTION
BAMR provided façade restoration and reconstruction as follows:
- Documenting, salvaging and reinstalling the lannon stone at 3 of the 4 buttresses
- Grinding and tuckpointing of 100% of the lannon stone and limestone joints
- Sealant replacement at 100% of the window perimeters
- Replacement and notching of bluestone to eliminate sky joints
- Water repellant was applied to 100% of the lannon, limestone, and bluestone
